Deleting your account
You have an absolute right to delete your account and erase your personal data. Here's exactly how to do it for each of our apps, and exactly what we keep and for how long.
The fastest way — in the app
Both apps have a Delete Account button in Settings. This is the quickest route and the one we recommend.
TradeKit
- Open TradeKit
- Tap Settings (bottom right)
- Scroll to Account
- Tap Delete Account
- Confirm. You'll need to re-enter your password to prove it's you
Before you delete, you can export your business data — invoices, expenses and the SA103F summary — using Settings → Export Data.
FishingTactix
- Open FishingTactix
- Tap Settings
- Scroll to Account
- (Optional) Tap Export All My Data (GDPR) to download a JSON file with everything you've created
- Tap Delete My Account
- Confirm. The app will sign you out immediately and queue the deletion
By email — if you can't get into the app
If you're locked out, lost your password, or the in-app button isn't working, email kristan@kihtech.co.uk from the address registered on your account with the subject line "Delete my account" and tell us which app(s). We will verify the request is genuine, action the deletion, and confirm in writing within 7 days — but usually faster.
What gets deleted
- Your profile (name, email, password hash, account preferences)
- Your authentication record (Firebase Auth)
- FishingTactix: catches, photos, voice notes, saved venues, trip plans, kit checklists, community posts, comments, leaderboard entries
- TradeKit: customer records, jobs, quotes, mileage logs, receipt images, app preferences. Open Banking connection tokens are revoked at TrueLayer
- Push notification tokens and any pending scheduled notifications
- Stripe customer record (the subscription is cancelled; billing records are retained as required by HMRC — see below)
Deletion is completed within 30 days of your request, often within a few minutes. You'll receive an email confirmation.
What we have to keep — and why
UK law requires us to retain a small set of records even after you delete your account:
- Financial records (invoices issued, VAT records, MTD/ITSA submissions, CIS records) — retained for 6 years after the end of the tax year, as required by HMRC and UK accounting law. Where possible these are anonymised and stripped of personal identifiers
- Receipts of complaint or dispute — held until the complaint is resolved and for a reasonable period after
- Audit logs showing that the deletion took place — for 12 months, to demonstrate compliance with UK GDPR
Cancelling your subscription
Deleting your account also cancels any active subscription. If you'd just like to cancel a subscription without deleting your account:
- Subscribed on the web (Stripe): Settings → Subscription → Manage Billing — opens the Stripe customer portal
- Subscribed on the App Store: open the App Store → tap your profile → Subscriptions
- Subscribed on Google Play: open the Play Store → Menu → Subscriptions
